Irvine
Conservatory
of Music
Welcome!
This web
site serves as a supplement to students and instructors; in addition
to offering other on-line music resources enabling the Irvine
Conservatory of Music to promote life long learning in addition to a
higher quality learning experience. Promotion and advertising of this
web site will be directed to potential new, current and former
students, day-care center facilities throughout Southern California,
various elementary schools, junior high schools, and high schools, as
well as various related publication subscribers and parent support
groups. In addition, throughout each year there are several
fundraising engagements followed by professional and student
performances sponsored by various individuals in order to support a
social network conducive to music appreciation, donations to our
building fund, and increased student enrollment.

Executive Summary
This Web Site serves as a
detailed public relations site, providing parents and students with
information about music seminars, workshops, private music lessons,
and performances. In addition, there will be various readings and
public domain software stressing the importance and appreciation of
music supporting a lifelong learning process.
Due to the dwindling
financial base supporting music programs in public schools, there now
exists a stable market and a strong demand for music instruction and
appreciation. Consequently, the student population at the Irvine
Conservatory of Music has doubled over the past five years. In
addition, a recent Gallup Poll study funded by the National
Association of Music Merchants indicated that benefits from school
music programs include higher degrees of creativity, self-discipline,
and overall intellectual development in children. Specifically, the
survey revealed that 93% of respondents agreed music to be part of a
well-rounded education. 86% felt that all schools should offer
instrumental music, 88% believed that music helped a child's overall
intellectual development, and 85% stated that communities should
provide financial support for music education programs in the
schools. Clearly, community needs require the services and
information provided by the Irvine Conservatory of Music.

Why We're Different !!
Competition to the
conservatory comes from three main sources. The first includes local
colleges, the second, local music stores, and the third includes
local private instructors. Since local college and university music
programs often require students to audition, the Irvine Conservatory
of Music prepares students for such an occasion by supporting a
matriculation process conducive to successful transition into any
public school music progran. Our students are generally long-term
candidates with a sincere appreciation for music. Students with
acknowledged short-term goals are referred to music stores. Students
with a demonstrated gift are sometimes referred to our local network
of independent established music teachers here in southern California
or our network of Private Music teachers on the East Coast.
* Please note:
Independent music teachers may have a different payment structure not
directly affiliated with the ICM in any way.
The ICM
The non-profit organization, as with any
other group that must work in harmony for the common good, has needs
for rules and regulations concerning the conduct of its members. The
Irvine Conservatory of Music is a 501 (C)(3), non-profit, tax exempt
corporation with no outside funding other than the tuition paid by
those enrolled in the Conservatory and from occasional private
donations. The year is divided into three trimesters: Spring, Summer,
Fall, with 16 lessons in each session. Vacations include,
Thanksgiving, Christmas, Easter, Hanukkah, etc., follow the calendar
of the public school year whenever possible. When the tuition is
paid, the teacher is paid. In cases of normal absences with 24 hr.
prior notice given directly to the teacher, deductions are possible
for missed lessons provided a makeup lesson is not possible.
Any make-up lessons are at the discretion
of the individual teacher. In case of lessons canceled by the
teacher, the student may receive a make-up lesson. If scheduling of a
make-up lesson is not possible, a pro-rated fee will be deducted or
applied as credit to the next trimester. Students who miss lessons
without reasonable 24 hr. notice will be expected to pay for time
lost.

the provisions of Title IX of the Education Amendments of 1972,
